1 pedestrian killed, 1 hurt in Michigan when trailer hauling boat breaks free and strikes them

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — One person was killed and another was hurt in western Michigan when a trailer hauling a pontoon boat disconnected from the vehicle towing it and struck them.
The victims were walking along a bike path Sunday afternoon in Holland Township when they were struck and trapped beneath the trailer and boat, the Ottawa County sheriff’s office said in a news release Monday.
A 62-year-old Holland, Michigan, resident died. A 38-year-old Holland, Michigan, resident was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The incident remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
Holland Township is southwest of Grand Rapids.
