Thousands of Apple device users reported experiencing issues while using iMessage on Thursday afternoon.
Over 13,000 iMessage outages were reported as of just after 6 p.m. ET, according to outage tracker Downtector.
Some users reported receiving a "Not Delivered" message while using the app. Others said they had to opt to send a non-iMessage text with a green bubble instead.
Apple's online System Status tracker briefly said iMessage was experiencing an issue around 7:00 p.m. ET.
USA TODAY was unable to reach Apple for comment, but the company marked the issue resolved around 7:30 p.m., stating that today between 5:49 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. some users were unable to use this service.
Social media reacts
Users quickly flocked to social media platforms to share their experiences being unable to use the communication platform.
Many shared memes on X (formerly Twitter) quipping about their immediate instinct to check social media to ensure they weren't the only ones unable to use iMessage.
